In 2010 it felt like hand craft was the most lame thing EVER (really difficult to think that now!), especially in an urban vibe. I wanted to change people's perceptions and break craft (especially knitting & crochet) out of it's frilly box. I stumbled onto the yarn bombing / yarn graffiti movement in America and felt a complete kinship with these pioneers and their work. I wanted to introduce Cape Town (and South Africa) to some rebellious crafting.
Also in 2010 the 'MyCiti' public transport system was introduced and had a super slow start once the Soccer World Cup ended. I wanted to create awareness for the bus system as well as craft as they are both so people-centred. It was the official first yarn bomb in Cape Town and South Africa and one of the projects I'm most proud of still.
